Geotechnical Engineering
The practice of geotechnical engineering is both an art and a
science. The inherent complexity and variability of the subterranean
environment requires a specialized expertise to ensure reliable
results. NGE studies subsurface soil, rock and groundwater
conditions to analyze their response to proposed loads for a given
project. NGE is equipped with a drilling rig to perform hollow stem
and wet rotary borings. NGE can provide laboratory geotechnical
testing under controlled conditions to evaluate standardized test of
materials. These tests evaluate soil classification, shear strength,
compaction, compressibility, swell potential, permeability, etc. Our
tests are conducted in accordance with ASTM standards. The field and
laboratory data together with our engineering recommendations are
typically presented in an engineering report. The
report addresses the specific project design, construction, and
quality control requirements.
